Caribbean Islands: Off the beaten track?

Considering heading to the Caribbean in January to beat the winter blues. We’ve been to many of the easy to get to/mainstream islands such as Grenada, Antigua, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint Lucia.

Thinking of trying to get to a smaller island like Nevis or maybe one of the Grenadines. Has anyone got any suggestions?

I haven't done it but I know there are sailings from the bigger islands so you'd prob find a package operating out of one of those.

Really? I've yet to find out about them and I've been to the 3 biggest, more than once.

It's all flights between them (and not cheap!).

Bequia or Carriacou are both very nice.

I think PP means from their bigger twin islands. You can get a boat from St Kitts to Nevis and from St Vincent to the Grenadines.

I loved Bonaire, its super safe and friendly with a really laid back vibe. Amazing for snorkeling too. You'd need to go via schipol for it.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. Not been to them.

We went to ST kitts and Nevis about 15 years ago. It was one of my favourite holidays of all time. We booked a flight and cheap AI and Kitts with British Airways. And just used it for a few days at the beginning and end of the holiday. We got the ferry over to Nevis and stayed in a plantation hotel over there - were were the only people in it at one point for a few nights.

We walked and took taxis on Nevis. And hired a car for a few days on Kitts.

It had a totally different feel to St Lucia, which I didn't really like... we felt very safe, it was beautiful and the snorkelling was incredible.

I have a fantasy trip started 😁I expect there are more boats. I love the idea of island hoping - for a few months!

The British Virgin Islands are lovely, you fly into Tortola and then can get a boat out to the more far flung ones. You can even island hop if you want to
