New York. Package or flights + hotel separately?

My DD and I are planning to visit NY in May/June.
As I am footing the bill, I wondered whether it would be more economical to book a whole package with a travel agent or just do it myself online?

There's no easy answer to this - all you can do is price up each option. We almost always find that it's cheaper to book each individual item separately, sometimes by up to £1000. But we are going to New York in 3 weeks time, and this time it was cheaper to get the flight and hotel as a bundle through British Airways,

Thanks for that.
My only issue is a deep loathing of BA!

Watching with interest as also thinking to go NY.
And also not impressed with BA!

Also watching although I plan to wait until the BA sale in January.

We have just booked a great deal on TAP Air Portugal in their sale. You do have to change at Lisbon, so we're having a couple of nights there on our way back from NY. We're going mid- March.

Look at Virgin, American, Delta and Jet Blue if you dont like BA. Also check Expedia for flight and hotel packages. I would always tend to book myself as that way I can choose specific rooms and flight times, but if a deal is cheaper….

We booked through Dial a Flight- they had packages & separate deals and beat Expedia on price.

British Airways sale in January often has excellent bargains , just try not to fly
in or out of Newark , appalling airport .

We stayed at The Wallace on the Upper West side ( 10 mins walk from Lincoln Centre and 5mins from Central Park) in February and got a great deal booking direct .

Aer Lingus for flights? I think they may have a sale on.

If you DIY you can be pickier about airline. Though I find them all much of a muchness..

American Airlines are good and code share with BA. But it really does depend on the plane you get really, rather than the airline.

I'd price up flights independently and book hotels through booking.com - then you have full flexibility.
