Holiday in the US with 11 yo DS- best itinerary?

My DS is really keen to go the US for a holiday.

I’m flexible about the time of year, but this will be our main holiday, so looking at 2-3 weeks depending on when we go.

I’d love west coast ( Yosemite/ Disney etc) but worry that it’s really expensive there now. A friend was recently in San Fran and said it was extortionate.

here’s the possible options:

Florida - theme parks
New York City then maybe maybe trip to DC for day or two.
Yosemite/ west coast

also keen on getting an RV.

Any advice on trips people have done with kids about 11 yo? Anything we must do?

NYC is a favourite, but think we could do that at any age!

We went last year as a holiday of a lifetime experience with dc ages 11 and 7. We did vegas, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, San Fran, nyc and Washington DC. I wouldn’t recommend vegas - it was stressful with how busy it was, naked girls in just a thong all over the place, soo many drug addicts. Whole place smelt of weed. Kids loved it though but I was stressed the whole time.
Yosemite and Lake Tahoe were amazing. San Fran was fun. Washington was lovely and NYC was fab although we were all shattered by this point.

so I would probably recommend sticking to west coast and doing Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Grand Canyon, San Fran, Santa Monica etc. maybe Hollywood although I haven’t been in over a decade- might be fun though.
