Having driven to the south of France this year using the toll autoroutes, I was recommended a ULYS card by a friend for convenience.
I applied online and supplied my bank details by IBAN in order that the direct debit could be collected - according to their website, you only pay for your usage plus a 2€ admin fee. Received the card within 10 days.
Part of the process is a 1€ test payment to ensure that everything is set up ok.
I’ve now received (in French) a rather threatening email saying as ULYS were unable to collect the 1€, they are ‘fining’ me an additional 40€ and if I don’t reply within 10 days, they will be instigating legal proceeding against me! Why they sent the card before the test, I have no idea.
I replied immediately and supplied details of my euro account as I assumed the issue might be because it’s a U.K. account. I received an electronic acknowledgement at the time, but now received a further threat! I’m so fed up, I’m planning on returning the card registered post, if I could only find an address to send it to!
Has anyone else had any dealings or issues with these people? And if so, how was it resolved.
