Universal credit and going abroad

Hi, I know when you are receiving universal credit you can go abroad for up to 30 days and you must notify the work coach and continue with your commitments. I’m in the intensive work search where I go twice a month to meet my work coach and this month they referred me to the Restart program. In the summer I was 3 weeks back in my country to visit family especially my father low had a stroke so we spent time with him. Now we are thinking of going for Christmas to visit him and spending a week there but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to go because of the Restart program and my commitments. I'm required actively to look for a job and I have commitments to apply. During the summer the coach said it’s fine for you to go you have right up to 30 days as long as you are still applying for jobs.
How often you can go abroad while at UC? It doesn't make sense to me 30 days in a whole year. Is it allowed to go for 3 weeks in summer and for Christmas again?
Thanks

quite simple

how many days will you have been abroad by the end of the year

as long as under 30… that’s fine. And it can be spread over chunks

So the role it is 30 days allowed per year. I was in August I think 23 days. So I have 7 days left until the end of the year.
Just to clarify let's say going from 25.12-05.01 will be allowed or no? Can I take 5 days from the next year?

you “think” you had 23 days

you need to be sure

Op drop your work coach a message on your account

Clearspring1 · 02/11/2023 16:54

When did you start on UC?

lady321 · 02/11/2023 16:55

Sorry I said that way. Yeah I'm sure

I will ask the work coach to explain it to me. I’m on UC for around 2 years.

Would your plans for going abroad clash with any Restart courses or meetings? I would be surprised if they let you anticipate the allowance for the next year as hopefully you would be back in work by then. In the past going abroad would mean your claim would be terminated due to the difficulty of returning from abroad to take up the offer of work.

Well I work and get 25 days holiday a year.

30 doesn't sound that unreasonable.

Pretty sure you can go multiple times for up to one month; there's also a way for compassionate circumstances to kick in - speak to your work coach OP.

If you go between your appointments they won't know.

And you can miss a restart appointment without anything happening. I think if you miss two they send you a mandatory one that you need to attend.
