Where to go for Winter Sun?

Doesn't actually have to be that hot, just want sunlight. We're saving for a house so don't want to spend too much.

We thought about Antigua in the Caribbean as flight is relatively short at 8hrs and we can get two flights for £300 cash (plus avios). But accommodation is extortionate since we last went.

I love love South East Asia but flights look to be about £1600 for two, which is pretty much most of the holiday budget.

Thinking of going away in February. Rogue suggestions welcomed!

Canaries

Canaries also. I’m in Tenerife now, it’s boiling. Gran Canaria is better in February though.

Madeira. Should be warm. Might rain a bit - but that's why it's green & beautiful.

4hour flight - BA do holidays as well as flights.
Wide range of hotels for all budgets, food is good.

If you don't want hot but sunshine what about Portugal? I have been to Lisbon and the Algarve in December and it was shorts weather during the day but too cold to swim (not that we would be swimming in Lisbon)

St.Lucia accommodation might be slightly cheaper than Antigua?

Canaries, Cape Verde, not sure how safe Egypt is right now? Might be fine.

Caribbean cruises can be very good value, if you sail from a nice destination like Miami or Puerto Rico then you can have a few days relaxing there before setting sail too. There's Caribbean cruises that set sail from New York too if flight time is important.
If you had Antigua in mind then Canaries won't really compare in terms of beaches and scenery.
