Summer holiday insanity

Just need a holiday whinge.. how does a fairly average European holiday in August cost around £8k?! Is this what people are booking? Is there an alternative I'm missing? After a bit of a disastrous self catering holiday last year I was hoping for kids club and all inclusive this year but I don't think I can pay 8k for a holiday that drops to 2k in September

I don't go away, l am happy and relaxed here at home

So the Holiday section probably isn't for you then....?

It's the extra bedroom that's bumping the cost. I've just booked 3 weeks 5 star AI in Turkey for £6k for me, dh and ds (12)

Still a huge amount of money -to us- and we have to save like mad for it. It's actually costing is 300 less than the same holiday last year

With dc that age I'd take them out of school, obviously unless you're tto yourselves.

I think the OP does get some unfair responses here.

Holidays are our luxery and I refuse to compromise and yes, I did pay 7K in 2022 in Greece. And I also refuse to share a room with my child for 2 weeks.

Saying that, I found AI is going a bit downhill. Food is not really great, bar drinks meh and hotels also cut down on sport activities included. And that was a 4-5* hotel.

DD is a teen and we now move away from it and if we would go back for a week warm weather, I think we would choose a non-AI hotel, either half board or B&B.

For the OP, I would look for an appartment complex in a resort, you have the kids club, the pool but you have more space and you can choose not to cook and eat out.
