Surfing in France - Biarritz? Campsites?

Love Cornwall, hate the weather.

Looking to head to Southern France to get the weather but west coast for a) surf and b) reduce chances of a 45 degree heatwave...

Any recommendations for beaches that are good for beginners / bodyboarding and / or campsites in the area???

Or is there somewhere else in France that could tick the boxes??

Labenne and Capbreton are both good for beginners and both beaches have surf schools. There’s a good campsite in Labenne called Sylvamar.

That's great thank you! We've been to Cornwall for a few years now so feel very confident about what's where, where to go etc so this is making me nervous! Plus it's obviously a lot more expensive so want to get it right.

Does anyone know if the campsites offer shuttles down to beaches???

We stayed in Seignosse this year. Great beach loads of surf schools. Lots of campsites, most people cycle to the beach but I think there would probably be shuttles too. We stayed in an apartment 5 min walk from the beach.

Near Biarritz Hosegor and Moliets are both beautiful and very surfy with loads of schools etc. I haven't camped there but lots of campsites worth looking at.

Have a look at the cote sauvage - Les Mathes, La Palmyre. If you're driving less of a mission than Biarritz!
