Where in the Caribbean for a family?

2 adults. 2 kids- 7 and 9.
Late July - August- pretty flexible.
budget £7k

We would prefer AI, unless eating out is reasonable. We’ve been to Barbados before so perhaps somewhere else?

St. Lucia looks to be beyond our budget. Where would you go?

In July or August I would keep clear of the West Indies. I know it’s annoying to be told that. We also rolled our eyes. But we went this summer and it rained and rained and rained. We had one day where we could see some blue sky. It was utterly depressing and so expensive. Don’t forget wet=mosquitoes.

If you’re set on the Caribbean, look at Aruba. That seems to be an AI kind of place. It missed almost all of the rain too.

We went last time in late August to Barbados and it did rain in the afternoons but not every day and only for an hour or so.

perhaps we were lucky? We don’t want to do Mauritius as it’s mega windy and a bit on the cool side in August. Not sure where else to try?

We went to Mauritius in August last year and it was lovely; not at all windy and between 22 and 28 degrees every day.
we stayed on The west coast of that helps.
the sea felt a little chilly in the morning but it was ok by lunch.

£7k may get you a week somewhere but it is hurricane season!

Lordofmyflies · 22/10/2023 17:19

Aruba. Its location means that it usually escapes the worst of the storms that the rest of the caribbean can get in the summer. You may get a package with Tui for that price. Look at eagle beach area for a family.

@Shadowboy i went to Antigua in august previously, it rained most of the 2 weeks!

Another vote for Aruba that time of year - it’s outside the hurricane belt and equatorial so same climate all year round. It’s also clean and safe.
