Has anyone been recently with kids and would recommend especially around October time? Thinking about next year but wasn’t sure weather wise?

Truly the worst place I have ever been. Everyone got food poisoning even in '5' star hotel, and we struggled to leave the resort as two blonde tweenagers attracted a lot of very awful attention.
Go to the canaries.

Go to the canaries. It's safer, and it's absolutely lovely weather in October.

SorryWorry · 19/10/2023 04:19

Don't go. Every single person I know who has been there has had terrible food poisoning.

HermioneWeasley · 19/10/2023 12:43

Worst holiday I’ve ever had. You couldn’t pay me to go again.

NonMiDispiace · 19/10/2023 12:45

It’s fine if you don’t mind being groped, gawped at and lewd gestures everywhere you go.
It’s one of the last places I ever want to visit again.

I remember a friend of mine going many years ago and said how dirty it was, that even the beach was covered in camel poo.

We hated it! Hotel charged to use sun beds around the pool and frisked everyone in case they were bringing food/drink in from outside! Hassled incessantly outside the hotel. In one shop, they corralled our 10 year old son into a corner and wouldn’t let him leave. Husband had to physically rescue him. Demanded tips for everything. Food was awful too. Would never, ever go back. Try Egypt instead. Hotels are lovely and some have water parks attached. Staff are friendly and weather in October is lovely.

I am going against the grain. We went 2 years ago and liked it. No food poison, went out to shops, resturant and amazing local cafe. It was really friendly place. We were in Sousse. Took guided tour for Medina trip

Having just come back from Egypt I would highly recommend it. 30-34 degree weather in October, fantastic coral reefs in Sharm or Hurghada and loads of hotels to choose from!

Nodashians · 20/10/2023 16:13

I went earlier this year on my own and had a lovely holiday.

Thank you all for your replies! Definitely seems like a marmite feel x

I don’t think I would go to Egypt at the moment.

Plumful · 20/10/2023 19:35

Egypt at the moment, are you mad?

2welshmums · 20/10/2023 19:40

Awful place to holiday, would never go back.
Had the worst food poisoning for a week which ruined it for me.
Also, locals are very pervy, couldn't go anywhere without getting hassled - it was terrible.
I would never take my child there

DrSeuss · 20/10/2023 19:49

Have been twice, once to Monastic and once to Sousse, which I prefer. Like most places outside of Western Europe, it's not on a par with European standards but that's fine by me. If you only like high end European resorts, don't go. If you like something a bit more interesting, then this is kind of Middle East Lite! Never had food poisoning on either trip. Maybe I'm just fugly because men never bothered me. I suppose that I am very used to travelling in developing nations and don't intimidate easily helps, as does the fact that I speak fluent French. The market in Sousse is great. Would go again any time.

When I was a travel agent 99% of the complaints were about Tunisia.
