Anyone know how long a new child passport is taking to be processed?

foolishly booked a holiday for the end of the month after reading the guidance notes on the application that says the two week checking service should be sufficient. However post office still insisting that it might be up to 6 weeks?
I thought this was only the case for adults that need interviews?

might be up to 6 weeks but at this time of the year they say about 2-3 weeks.

DS's has taken just taken about 2.5 weeks.

I recently applied and the time from sending at PO to me getting the passport (including me having an interview), was 1 week and 2 days.

chocolateteapot · 08/03/2008 15:48

That was just sending normally and not through the Post Office checking system.

I might be panicking a little too early then!

my DS's came back really quickly - about 10 days if that - might have been even less

lisasimpson · 08/03/2008 15:56

were these first passports as or renewals?

callum's took about 2 weeks and i didn't use check and send because I filled the passport form online so no mistakes

sparklygothkat - I filled in my form online and when it arrived it was wrong! I didn't use check and send though - just went through about 5 forms until I knew it was perfect. This was a 1st passport lisasimpson - my DS is a baby
