Would you go to Jordan right now?

My mum is due to go on a long awaited tour of Jordan and the Dead Sea on Thursday.

She's with her friend and a tour group of older people.

I'm worried but I also don't want to say don't go. She was in a controlling relationship for years and she's an intelligent educated adult.

Would you go?

When this thread started I would have said 'OK but watch for Home Office notifications' - now I would say 'No' as it's getting more and more unstable in that area by the minute. 😮

Yes I'd go. I have many friends there and everything is business as usual. I'd probably advise caution if she plans on attending any protests though 😁.

What was the notification? The website didn't change?

My response wasn't based on the HO website, it was my personal opinion after reading the news.

Oh I misread. Still haven't seen anything concerning in news about jordan really

@BackT I hope your mum had an amazing time. I’d love to go there, it’s on my list but kids aren’t keen so it will probably just be me. I don’t think there is much reason to avoid Jordan or many other ME countries at the minute. What is happening in Israel and Gaza is horrible but wars and civil unrest are very common unfortunately and just being nearby isn’t necessarily a cause to wring hands. It isn’t that long since we had a serious war in Europe, 20 years or so, and people didn’t avoid Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria or Greece at the time AFAIK. yes, yes, I know, there weren’t the same international dimensions in the sense that none of the sides had big nuclear powers on their side, but …

I can see why you're worried, but it's also great that your mum's taking this opportunity for herself. Maybe just express your concerns but also support her decision. Ultimately, it's her choice, and she'll have a fantastic experience in Jordan and the Dead Sea!

It's such a shame what happened to Lebanon. I saw in law's pics from holidays when DH was young. Beautiful, prospering country. Syria as wellbit Lebanon was just top.
It's amazing area with so much history you can touch

Well she's all checked in for her flight back and she seems to have had an amazing time!

Must admit though- things are escalating in the region so she might have just been lucky enough to get there before things kicked off.
