Egypt in February

We have paid a deposit on a holiday to Egypt in February.

With the current state of affairs in that neck of the woods my mum has started worrying. (Yes, I'm 42, and no, my mum isn't likely to stop worrying any time soon.)

What would you do? Would you go or look elsewhere? We need to decide relatively soon so as not to incur further costs.

How much was the deposit?

viques · 18/10/2023 11:21

I would cancel. What is happening in Gaza is not going to calm down and feel safe anytime soon , if ever imo. And Egypt is too close and too involved.

Greenshake · 18/10/2023 11:23

It’s far too early to make a decision on this. Wait and see a while longer.

Depends on where you are going? Sharm el Sheikh no, Hurgada fine.

Iwillnotdancewiththedevil · 18/10/2023 12:13

I'm due to go next week!
Tour operator still going ahead, no FCO warning against Hurghada so no real reason not to go... other than being deeply uncomfortable about it!

I don't know how to link but I've got another active thread about this if you search my name - there are some great perspectives from posters.

Personally would cancel though read small print to check what you would owe if cancelled as sometimes its more than what paid already. I would also give tour operator a call and see if can switch to another destination.

Coming back to this, if we cancelled we would get our deposit back as credit so have gone for that. Will rebook elsewhere or wait and see on Egypt later in the year.
