Not sure if anybody has any ideas here.

Consultant has said OH should not travel in four weeks due to new health condition.

No problem, we are insured, health is more important. Problem is he won't provide a letter. His take is that he is here to save a life, not worry about holidays.

While I understand, it also leaves us a lot of money out of pocket.

Would rebook and pay admin fee but we don't know when he will be able to travel so not simple.

Insurers have agreed that it's covered as a new condition, this was on notifying them, they just said we need a letter.

This is a private consultant, paid by insurance, which he is obviously against going by his comments.

Do you think a GP will provide a letter, at cost, even if report on condition not received? We just feel at a loss what to do.

I doubt Gp will write anything if the consultant does not share their findings. Will the insurer not contact consultant direct?

@LIZS I doubt it. Why would they make an effort to confirm they need to pay out?

Do you have anything in writing from the consultant?

zippitydoda · 13/10/2023 19:31

@LIZS no. That's the problem.

That is really odd, he must keep a record of the appointment. Can you email him confirming the conversation?

Really not sure. His bedside manner wasn't the best. There is a different consultant appointment soon so at try them and GP.

He may be able to lose over £5K but we can't.

I would ask for a copy of the clinic letter sent to your GP, they do this even when private. He may not mention the advice of course.
