Florida

We had booked to go on holiday to Tenerife next October, but now we're considering changing it to Florida. We have two children who will be 12 and 10 so a good age for long haul. Would you pick Florida over Tenerife? Is it amazing? Thanks!

I’d pick Florida over Tenerife in a heart beat, especially in October when the Orlando parks go all out for Halloween!

Florida, Florida, Florida.
Totally amazing. It's so much more than theme parks.

I was in Florida last week - Disney and Universal.
If you've any questions just ask! :-)

Florida
Its not cheap thought but a great adventure

How long is your holiday?. A week of only theme parks for instance can be full on but its still worth considering.

Some hotels like for example the Embassy Suites chain or Homewood suites offer breakfast as a part of the room rate. There are plenty of restaurants on I Drive south of Sandlake Road too.

Halloween time at Disney is suitable for children of all ages.

Universal studios Halloween evening events to be far more scary and horror based, its therefore aimed at much older teens and adults.

I'd definitely pick Florida, but it'll probably be 10x the cost!

They are different holidays. Assuming you mean Orlando and the theme parks, I would only go when you’ve got 2 weeks if you’re going for the first time. The parks are amazing, b7t it’s a much more expensive holiday and not restful

sekift · 12/10/2023 10:26

Depends on your budget and time, 2 completely different holidays. But yes if you've got the budget and 2 weeks I'd absolutely pick Florida.

I'd pick Florida over Tenerife, with kids that age (assuming you are going to do Orlando, as opposed to a beach holiday). But the cost is likely to be far, far higher. It also depends on how long you are going for - I'd say you need a minimum of 10 days in Orlando, preferably more.

Having been to both many times, Florida is far better but they completely different holidays so hard to fairly compare. Florida is also sooooo much more expensive. You need to consider car hire, insurance, estas, park tickets which can be over £1000 per person depending on your plans, resort fee, parking fee etc.

Amazing but expensive. Food prices in supermarkets and for meals out are off the scale really. Halloween is brilliant over there, and there is much more to florida than just theme parks.
