Where to stay during Paris Olympics?

Lucky to get tickets for a weightlifting in Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. I’m trying to figure out where we can stay that won’t cost the absolute earth. There are 5 adults. Happy to take the metro. Is there a site that would help I’m going around in circles, cheapest accommodation is a one bed apartment for 4k. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well you surely knew this would happen? My suggestion would be to get out of Paris. Look at the metro route to the stadium and work out an arrival station that you can use to access the metro line. Then look up the line for stops in towns and then possible hotels. Like the London Olympics, if you commuted in it was ok.

Would somewhere like this work... europe.huttopia.com/en/site/camping-versailles/

Thanks guys. I did expect to have to pay over the odds but I think 4k for a small apartment for a couple of nights is a bit steep. I don’t travel outside the Uk and Ireland generally so I’m not good at finding places in other countries. I’ll look at the campsite thank you. For London 2012 there was a site that gave hotels on direct routes to the venue can’t find anything like it this time.

I have looked at routes into Gare Monparnasse. That’s not so bad for the metro to the venue. So check out the routes from there. Then look at towns you can get to. If you are flying it’s more difficult. Ferry with a car. More doable.
