Paris - lone female traveller looking for good value hotel as a base for seeing the sights

I am posting this on behalf of a friend who is travelling to Paris on her own for a few days to do the sights.

She wants to find a nice hotel, not too expensive, in a safe area which she can use as her base to explore and see the usual sights.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

Thank you!

Hotel le Regent, 61 rue dauphine.

She can walk almost everywhere. 10 mins to Louvre, Notre Dame. Near to Seine, close to restaurants, friendly buzzy area. Can get the RER train from the airport to nearby. Easy location. Would definitely stay there again. Great PAUL nearby for delicious breakfasts, breads and pastries.

Hi WiiMii

How old is your DS and how did you fid the room accommodation wise sharing with your DH/DP and your DS?

We are thinking of using this hotel at the end of May and our DS is almost 8. Are the rooms unfeasilby small to share with a child?

Just wondering if we should go for something a bit larger which may mean going up to a 4* hotel which will = pricey!!

Hi Wiimii glad you had a good time! Am getting excited now! i thought the breakfast in the hotel would be good for preggers pal as its an all you can eat type affair? Where did you go? last time I was in Paris, we didn't eat in the hotel, we went to a brasserie on Rue St Jacques just before Notre Dame and the next day we went to a similar place on Boulevard St Germain. Did you take RER from CDG? Also, did you take metro to Montmartre? Thanks again for posting! Am tempted to take ds next time!
