Me and my partner at the time booked a holiday for 2024 July. We're no longer together which means we're now trying to either cancel, sell or change names. I am trying to avoid cancelling as we lose out on so much. I was told to be able to change the lead passenger who is my ex partner to me and change ex partner to my friend it's £300. If i were to leave it and change the name on the flights to my friends name can i just leave the lead passenger on the hotel and booking? Or will something go wrong.

You will need to have the names of the people actually travelling on all your documentation. Often you have to show your passports to your accommodation and they will need everything all tallied up . It may depend on where you are going but I wouldn't risk it .
