We need a super cheap family holiday

Dds are 11 and 9. We would be looking at Feb half term next year or maybe Easter. We have had a week in Cornwall in May this year which was lush but expensive. We live in Brighton and have been battling health / family / renovation costs and stress. With CoL problems and some other unexpected costs we couldn’t justify going away in the summer hols and we don’t have leave left for Oct. This weekend has been full on with more bad news and I want something to look forward to.

We love a city break but could really do with RnR. Doesn’t have to be abroad. Max budget of £1k (all spending in that). Thanks!

Park Dean holidays on Isle of Wight?

XelaM · 01/10/2023 21:52

I have read on here that wowcher do mystery holidays for £99pp to all kinds of amazing destinations abroad. I have since read the reviews and I really want to go!

You can get flights at Easter to Lisbon for £300. 4 nights holiday let for £200. Lots to do there whatever the weather, inc the beach if its sunny enough! Self cater to reduce the cost a bit

Ooh thank you for the great ideas!

Take them youth hostelling to the Lakes or Scotland for a bit of outdoor adventure?

Super cheap: caravan for a week out of season or at mates' rates.

You live in a tourist hotspot. I wonder if you could get your renovations etc done enough to homeswap with someone?

PeachesVonBeach · 02/10/2023 13:39

I've never stayed in a caravan, so that actually sounds really exciting!
Would love to house swap - this sounds like something to consider if we're a bit more finished next year.

Join trusted house sitters. It’s £180 for the year, and you can sit as many weeks of the year as you want for that.

For example we had a couple cat sit at ours for 2 weeks this year when we went away. We live in a tourist area and have separate 2 bed holiday let onsite they stayed in for free in exchange for feeding cat every evening and some cat fuss when home. We have used it as a host for years
