Socks for city breaks

I’m off on a city break next week. There will be a lot of walking. I’m mainly going to wear trainers. Any recommendations for socks that will help me avoid blisters?

TU thick trainer socks. They have a tab to protect the achilles.

Ooh thanks. Will check them out.

Get socks that fit!

I have average size 5 feet. I stopped buying the women's one size (4 - 8) pairs and get them from brands that offer two sizes: small (2.5 - 5) and large (5.5 - 8).

Try M&S and Falke
Less material to rub and a better fit.

Smartwool hike ankle socks are my go to. My feet never feel wet even if it's raining and don't feel sweaty if the weather's hot either.

Interesting.

DD and I are both size 5 and I stopped buying M&S as the socks are either too small or too big. 4-8 is a much better fit for us.

@Bobsledgirl - I bought some cushioned trainer socks from Next recently and wore them for walking around New York and Florence. Soft, cosy and no issues at all. But they are slightly thicker so it depends what kind of socks you normally wear with your trainers.

Falke are the best I have found.

Thanks all

Useful question! I get horrendous blisters on any holiday. I wear socks and comfortable shoes whether the weather is hot or cold but after a few days of walking say 15000 steps a day, even on a beach holiday my feet are covered in blisters. Not the heels but around the toes. I counted 8 on my recent holiday in Majorca.
