Recommendations for European solo long weekend

Just looking for recommendations of a long weekend in Europe in mid-October.

I like cities, would prefer to be somewhere warm-ish (20Cs)

Somewhere safe for a single woman to explore.

I'm thinking southern cities in Italy or Spain but an open to suggestions.

Thanks Smile

I absolutely love Malaga and Palma and think both are perfect weekend destinations. Lovely hotels, great food, enough to do without getting overwhelmed, very easy to get round, basically walkable. And friendly.

I would second palma, great architecture etc. Seville too.

All the recommendations so far I would agree with - Seville was top of my list to recommend, also Granada, Malaga, Palma, Valencia might be warm enough.

Lisbon might still be warm enough for you.

Valletta is usually still nice and warm in October and is a lovely city for a long weekend.

Thanks - some great suggestions there - going to explore flights and hotels

All these suggestions are great and I've been to all of them- Valletta will be more on the flight- but is pretty cheap when you are there

Friends of mine were in Valetta for work recently and didn't feel particularly safe and a colleague was mugged.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/09/2023 13:12

@BigDahliaFan suprising- I felt very safe- although st Julian's was a different matter!!

cherryassam · 28/09/2023 13:17

Yes I’ve always felt pretty safe in Valletta - was there in June and felt as safe as always.

Pickpocketing can be an issue as it can be in most cities with tourists - apparently it’s particularly bad on the buses at the moment.

Paceville (St Julian’s) can be an interesting place to be…

Nice. You can take the train along the coast to Cannes in one direction, and Eze, Monaco and Menton in the other. Handy frequent tram from the airport to the centre. Nice on its own is great also. Short flight too.

I love Malaga too.
If you’re considering Nice- there’s a direct TGV there from Paris.
