Halkidiki in September?

What is the weather usually like in Halkidiki in September. Weighing up paying more at the end start of September, or whether it's worth saving money and going for this time of the month?

I went to Halkidiki this year on 31 August for 9 nights, smugly thinking that the weather would be great. Checked the forecast before we left (glorious sunshine for the 9 nights) and packed all my summer gear accordingly.

Well...we arrived to glorious sunshine, followed by another 3 days of glorious sunshine, and then we caught the tail end of storm Daniel! Cue 3 days of very overcast and extremely windy weather to the point that we couldn't go on any trips, followed by one day spent in the hotel room as it rained none stop from when we woke up until about 6pm in the evening. The next day (our penultimate day) was back to glorious sunshine, as was the following few weeks but we'd returned home by then. To make matters worse, the UK was basking in lovely hot and sunny weather while we were sat under grey cloud.

However, I think we were just unlucky with the storm. It's not usually like that. I think the weather can be so unpredictable these days that you just pay your money and take your chance.

We stayed in Afitos, which is a gorgeous village - highly recommended.
