Does anyone else have ‘secret’ holiday places?

Where you don’t dare tell people about them, because you absolutely love them and they are, as of yet, relatively undiscovered?!

DP and I have discovered three such places over the years, including one we have just got back from. (Which is nothing short of miraculous because we’re VERY particular.)

Everyone has been asking us about our holiday over the last few days and I’m keeping my answers vague so as to not recommend this particular island to anyone! So I say “We had a lovely time in [Name of country]” or mention another, bigger island that we went to, rather than give away the name of our “special island”.

Just wonder how normal it is to be secretive? 😅 And if you’ve done this, how quickly did your special place get discovered?! We’re already planning a trip back next summer, but I wonder how many more summers we will have of unspoilt gorgeousness 😍

There's a place in Greece I go to sometimes. I wouldn't call it undiscovered but it's a small, traditional fishing village with 2 small hotels and some apartments. Nobody else I know had even heard of it and I'm keeping it that way. I'm quite happy to talk about the other places in Greece I go to, but this one belongs to me. 🙂

Yeah, ‘undiscovered’ is a bit strong for my place too.

It’s more that you can walk into any restaurant or cafe - no booking needed anywhere - and some of the beaches are so peaceful we had them to ourselves until around 1pm 😍
