Hi Out there

We are off to see the grandparents in Oz on Friday and are very excited. However I am worried sick about 21 hours of flying with Emirates (2 hour stop over in Dubai). What should I take with me on flight - she has child meals booked but should I take our own food and loads of snacks and toys as well. I just don't want to lugging mountains about. I also want her to sleep. Phenergan has been suggested as a solution but the bottle says not for children under 2. Advice anyone?

Don't take lots of food. Plane can provide snacks if DD asleep or doesn't like food. Also they can keep a meal warm (but have a time limit, can't remember what it is). I'd just take 1/2 dozen snacks she really likes. Little things (like raisins) good as they take longer to eat. When my DC's were that age a car with a person you can take in/out, Duplo, book with flaps/pop-ups, doll with accessories. Don't use Phenergan unless you've used it before, on some children it makes them hyper! Chewy snack for take-off/landing helps ears and make sure you have a couple of sachets of Calpol.

Oh Briwish I wish I could report back on time - flying out on Thu night to Melb via Singapore with 14mo. we're taking cuddly toys she sleeps with, books (endlessly entertaining), plus counting on the in-flight entertainment (and I don't mean the movies, but the mags, bits of plastic, all the buttons she can push, playing peek-a-boo with the blankets etc). Hope that and some sleep will get you there. Apart from that, just think of all the babysitting you'll get out of the grandparents while you're there.
Best of luck xx
