Where would you suggest? Open to most places, we’d be driving and most likely stay in an air b n b.

Depends what you like doing?

BluesandClues · 18/09/2023 11:25

We like museums, walks, activity centres, just interesting places to be honest.

Cairngorms is nice in October. A fair bit to do. We took a day trip up to Findhorn but based ourselves just outside of Aviemore. Or Elie / North Berwick on the East Coast with day trips to Edinburgh (and Elie also close to remainder of Fife)
I'd avoid West Coast as it's a lot of beaches (May is better).

You could easily spend an entire week in Edinburgh. Our favourite activities were Camera Obscura, Dynamic Earth, the Real Mary King’s Close, Arthur’s Seat, Dalkeith Country Park, a road trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park via the Kelpies, Edinburgh Zoo and the Chocolatarium.

We go to a glamping site in Oban think it's called highfield holidays they have safari tents with hot tubs which are great. Edinburgh and Glasgow both have lots to keep you busy and the Crieff hydro is amazing for families and more like a resort

My husband has family in Edinburgh and I agree with others who have said you could do a week there easily... lots to do. But for the second time this time we are also going to spend a few days up near Aviemore and from there you can do walks, lochs, castles, go and see the wild reindeer herd, spend time on Cairngorm e.g. going up the Funicular or tubing, the Highlands Wildlife Park is quite a good one if you in to that kind of thing etc... I am excited about going up again...

We’ve been up to Glencoe twice in Oct half term and loved it. Went to Oban and did a boat trip, Skye ( long day!), Ardnamurchan for stunning wild beaches ( and a bonkers swim!), highly recommend. We stopped on the way at Loch Lomond and did a boat trip. We’ve also had a week in North Berwick which was great and v easy to get into Edinburgh, also a fab high ropes water course at Fox Lake, and finally a week in Melrose in the borders which was lovely too. So many places. Have a fab time!

Dumfries and Galloway is our go-to place at any time of year. Surprisingly beautiful scenery, lots to do indoors and outdoors, and if you get the odd unexpected warmish sunny day there is some glorious coastline to explore.

BluesandClues · 18/09/2023 21:54

Bloody hell, I would never have thought of half of these. These sound amazing!

This, if you’re there on the 31st the town of Kirkcudbright becomes one large Halloween experience. Go down the spooky alleys if you dare!
Seriously, the region’s countryside rivals anything you’d see in the Canadian Fall. The days can still be quite sunny and warm due to the influence of the Gulf Stream.

Yesss @Beebumble2 We love Kirkcudbright!
