How much do you expect holiday to be?

How much do you think a 7 day all inclusive holiday should be for 3? My DH said £1900, 7 nights all inclusive to Turkey in a 4 star hotel for Christmas was too much. Now he’s refusing to contribute towards despite initially agreeing. This also includes luggage and transfers. Is it too much?

Over Christmas itself? £800-£1k per adult would be my expectation for four/five star in Turkey with a package operator.

Applesaarenttheonlyfruit · 17/09/2023 20:38

He’s having a laugh. That’s great value.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/09/2023 20:41

We spent £3.5k on an AI in Turkey last October half term for 2 adults 2 children (teens)

lots will be closed in Turkey at that time of year so it may be a bit cheaper.

Dadfromthesea · 17/09/2023 20:42

i’d be jumping for joy finding a 4* AI week anywhere in the school holidays for three people under two grand. The prices are so absurdly high for holidays that I’m amazed anyone can afford to go abroad in school holidays.

caringcarer · 17/09/2023 20:53

If he won't contribute leave the grumpy sod at home and go with DC.

flidbenzz · 17/09/2023 20:55

Agree with @Dadfromthesea
Ones we have seen for school hols are thousands for 3 of us even with a 'free child space'

jackstini · 17/09/2023 20:57

Blimey - that's amazing value!
Brilliant find and he is def bu

HermioneWeasley · 17/09/2023 20:57

It won’t be warm in Turkey in December, is there a particular reason you want to go there?

That would be an amazing price for a summer holiday for a 4* all inclusive

underneaththeash · 17/09/2023 20:59

It's not going to be very warm though at Christmas, I wouldn't pay for that either.

Bunnycat101 · 17/09/2023 20:59

I’m not sure what he’s expecting. You’re out of season so probably already significantly cheaper than at peak. Flights to turkey during school holidays are probably £400 per person so does he really think you’re going to get food/drink and accommodation for anything less than what you’re paying?
Transfers are probably valued at around £150 minimum so you’re basically getting accommodation, food and drink for about £180 each for a week or £25 per person per day.

Dacadactyl · 17/09/2023 21:01

Is that 1900 per person?

If its for all 3 then that's ridiculously cheap. Although I've never been to Turkey and know nothing about prices over Christmas there.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 17/09/2023 21:05

I'm surprised the resorts(?) are open in December to be honest. The price is good, but you'll be cold.

I can't comment on him "contributing" as we don't run our finances like that.

Is there a reason for Turkey? What area is it?

yelloworchids · 17/09/2023 21:12

I think it’s great value!
but Turkey? The weather wouldn’t be great I don’t think?

gawditswindy · 17/09/2023 21:29

I've struggled to find AI for 4 for under 3 grand. And that's the Scottish holidays which are (marginally) cheaper than the English ones.

autienotnaughty · 17/09/2023 21:50

Ai to turkey at Xmas. 2k is the low end . You can see if there's any free child deals but I'd doubt you would get it much cheaper. Pre covid you could have done it for 1500 but not now

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 18/09/2023 07:34

That’s a great price but it probably won’t be more than 15 degrees during the day and colder at night at that time of year. Thats in the beach resorts, it’ll much colder in the north.

if you want it a bit warmer in Europe the only option really is the canaries, though it’s not even guaranteed to be warm there.

Baconking · 18/09/2023 07:39

Ask him to look for a holiday.

My DH used to forget we're not still in the nineties and you can't go abroad for under £500 so I got him to look so he could see the real prices

TiredandLate · 18/09/2023 07:47

Turkey is cold at Christmas.. I've seen deals similar to your prices and was tempted until I looked up the temperatures!

We are looking at the Canaries (£2.5k for 2 adults) or Cape Verde (£3-4k).
