Northern Spain

Considering a family trip to Northern Spain next summer, catch the ferry to either Santander or Bilbao.

Looking for suggestions of accommodation along this stretch. Being flexible on location so Cantabria, Asturias or Galicia. I appreciate this is a massive area!!

We have x 4 children (<12) so would like somewhere close to a beach / go swimming. Pool (villa) or a campsite with few slides would be brilliant but not critical.

Ideally, near a little town we could walk to for dinner out the odd evening. Cycle path close by would be a bonus!

Been searching myself but experience from others would be super helpful.

Thank you

It's on my bucket list, mainly to go to Picos de Europa. Done a lot of research into where to stay when we do go and it will be Llanes. Looks a lovely little town with a small but nice beach and plenty of good restaurants.

Playa Joyel is a lovely campsite. No waterslides, but it has direct beach access and an on-site animal park.

We had a nice holiday in Ribadesella. Went to the Picos, etc. Very green, not like other parts of Spain.

Very Spanish/local language speaking.

Comillas is another very Spanish town, on the coast and popular with Spanish tourists but not many Northern Europens seem to know it.
We stayed in an apartment in a ‘residencia’ complex that had a pool .
Also Santillana del Mar, very picturesque but busier.
