Passport expiry kids

My kids passports run out in 2024 all aged 11 so it's their first one for 5 years. They are due to expire in March 2024 and I plan to travel with them to Tenerife in October this year. Does anyone know how long you need on the passport to have it accepted upon return into the U.K.? I'm

As pp says , 3 months is the rule for EU countries.

Just after the official exit from the EU, there was some confusion with some airline check-in staff that thought it was 6 months and turned people/families away.

That’s been sorted.

I'm assuming this only matters if the passports which are expiring have previously been renewed but beware that passports need to have the required amount of time left on them from the issue date anniversary not the expiry date, which may not always be the same if a previous passport was renewed early.
