We loved kefalonia, it was beautiful and the people were just so friendly. Really lovely place.
we stayed at the karavados beach hotel, which we loved, it was reasonably priced and the views are amazing. If you’re not planning on hiring a car though it’s a bit out the way and only a few tavernas you can walk to. The hotel does serve dinner, but it’s a bit meh and so many other lovely places to eat on the island, breakfast was good though.
Lots of people like lassi which is near argostoli and has nice Sandy beaches. I’ve heard that some do find it a bit too catered to brits, but good choice of places to eat and a good place to explore from. I also liked Sami in the north, the beaches are pebbly, but it had a nice feel to it. Lourdata was also lovely and had a good choice of tavernas along the beach and more up in the village.
I can definitely recommend the cafe up by St George’s castle, it’s called kastro cafe, family run with amazing food and service. We spent a lovely morning looking round the castle ruins and then lunch in the cafe. Assos is beautiful but the road to reach it was scary!! Same with Myrtos beach! Melissani cave is worth a visit, but try and avoid cruise ship days as it gets really busy. Argostoli square is a great place to eat in the evening, very atmospheric.
have an amazing time!
