Best place for winter sun, with kids?

Hi

Where would you recommend for winter sun over the Christmas holidays with two children aged 5 and 2?

I'm thinking canaries as I don't want to travel too far. I've been to all canaries in the past. But worried the sea and pools could be a little 'chilly' in December, which would be quite important for the kids as that's a make or break for them!

I've been to Tenerife in November and I actually thought it was quite cold and it's not somewhere i would fancy going with the kids with the volcanic beaches and nightlife but I did stay in las americas, so that might be why haha. I've been to Lanzarote In december to Puerto del carmen but the locals were telling us the heat we had at that time was unusual. So this time I've considered Playa Blanca but not sure that would be any different? We also had a lovely warm holiday to Gran Canaria at the beginning of the year, and ideally would like to try somewhere else this time.

I do fancy Egypt, particularly hurghada? Has anyone been?

You need to go further if you want it warm enough for an outside pool

Without wanting to fly further, Canaries is probably your best bet. Look for a hotel with a heated pool? We've been to H10 Lanzarote Gardens in Costa Teguise, great facilities for children and the pool is heated during the winter months. The sea was a bit chilly when we were there in Feb but ok to paddle in.

There must be plenty of other hotels that heat the pools during winter, hopefully someone else can recommend alternatives.

Canaries won’t necessarily be warm enough and most pools are unheated so will be too cold in December. For guaranteed weather you’re going to have to go Middle East/ Mexico or Caribbean. Even Florida can have chilly days in December!

Dubai, Oman

Canaries are a bit hit and miss that time of year, might be warm, might be chilly. I’d look for somewhere with a heated outdoor pool or option of an indoor one.

I’d probably go for Mexico or the Caribbean if funds allow and you can cope with the flight. The Middle East may be an option if you want something like that, it’s not for me but plenty do like Dubai etc.

Mauritius. If you can face the overnight flight (fly direct if you possibly can), it’s perfect. Very child friendly resorts, lovely beaches, no jet lag and warm.
