Has anyone been to Cadiz in Spain?
Thinking of booking a few days away , just to relax or wander, and I've never been .

I went a few years ago and didn't think much of it. We loved Seville and Jerez though.

Cádiz is a nice enough seaside city, we had one day/night there and felt it was enough. The food market is lovely. There are not a tonne of things to see other than the cathedral. The beaches are nice though. You could probably use it as a base to explore the Costa de La Luz which does have some really lovely beaches and little villages.

Rick Stein did a weekend there on his programme - maybe that's available somewhere. I posted on your other thread that the market is lovely.

Cadiz is perfect to relax and wander, I went last year and stayed on San Rafael street, which was perfect. It was about a 3 minute walk to a lovely beach and about 10 minutes walk to lots of restaurants etc. The city is kind of 'shabby chic' and the buildings are beautiful. We went in May and the trees were completely full of purple flowers that were gorgeous. The weather was lovely and warm in the day, and summer dress and a light cardigan weather in the evenings. There isn't loads to do, but we didn't want a super busy holiday, we just wanted to relax and eat delicious food, which we certainly did!

I loved Cadiz but only spent a day there wandering and eating. We were based in Seville and got the train there which was easy.
