Look at booking a trip next summer. Interested in opinions. Which Greek island is your favourite and why would you recommend it?

I like Crete and Corfu for two very different reasons. Crete because there’s so much to do and it’s very family friendly. Corfu because the scenery is my kind of scenery. To me it’s the most beautiful.

Corfu or kefalonia (to be fair though the only other island I’ve been to is Crete).

they’re both stunningly beautiful. Corfu has more tourist type stuff to do and is a bit livelier. So probably better for kids as there’s a water park, aquarium and quite a few of those inflatable water park type things in the sea in various places. Corfu town is also amazing.

Kefalonia is very relaxed and the people are the friendliest of anywhere I’ve been. You can see turtles in the harbour in argostoli, which is pretty cool. Also less mosquitoes on kefalonia, I have to be very careful on Corfu with applying insect repellent in the evenings, but it doesn’t put me off going.

depends if you want something a bit more lively then Crete, Zante, Kos i’d say. Kefalonia is stunning!

MarshyMcMarshFace · 06/09/2023 17:38

Where would people recommend in Kefalonia?

Somewhere not too full on but with a good range of low key tavernas, good swimming, maybe a choice of places to walk to? Good for the odd day excursion (to see the turtles, for example)? Doesn't need to be child friendly.

Jevwaypock · 06/09/2023 17:40

Tbh anywhere it’s quite a small Island so if you are able to hire a car then you can explore. I stayed in Lixouri which was lovely but we went all over!

EffinMagicFairy · 06/09/2023 17:41

Love the Greek Islands but only been to smaller ones, we did Kefalonia this summer and it didn’t disappoint. There are no nightclubs (or very few) as the locals did not want their island to become the next party island, suited us, plenty of restaurants and bars, Argostoli very family friendly at night. We stayed at Enalion suites, in Lassi, has steps down to the beach, 5 min taxi ride to Argostoli is 7 euros. We’re going back one day!

PupsChoc · 06/09/2023 17:42

Paros, anytime.

Jevwaypock · 06/09/2023 17:43

Love little Lassi❤️

I love Rhodes and Corfu out of the big ones and Tilos from the small . Rhodes is hot fry and arid but Rhodes Town is incredible and Corfu is green and stunning with a lovely capital town . Tilos , reached by ferry from Rhodes is just one tiny village but so so friendly and still very Greek . No good for shopping though . Rhodes and Corfu are both great for that .

Vicliz24 · 06/09/2023 17:47

But also Paros and Naxos . Very very easy to get around the Cyclades by ferry . Lots of different islands to choose from provided you get to Paros . Wonderful for Island wandering.

doodleygirl · 06/09/2023 17:52

Paxos is heaven on earth

AuntieMarys · 06/09/2023 18:00

Paros

jenbj · 06/09/2023 18:17

I've been to lots of Greek Islands but I particularly like Corfu and Paxos. Skiathos and skopelos are also nice.

Wiii · 06/09/2023 18:32

Kefalonia and Skiathos are nice. I don't mind Rhodes but it's v v touristy and never go to Rhodes town when the cruise ships dock.

Orquid · 06/09/2023 18:41

Kefalonia because it is very green and didn’t find it crowded when we went, mountains, sea, nice scenery.

I don’t know that many though. Been in Corfu, Zakyntos, Naxos, Paxos, Santorimi. Have not been in Crete

Flimpychunk · 06/09/2023 18:42

Kefalonia!

crew2022 · 06/09/2023 18:42

Dial in Kefalonia is lovely

Lots of people like lassie due to its range of tavernas and proximity to argosoli. It’s has good beaches and is convenient. Though some think it’s a bit too British, but depends what you want.

I liked Sami, though the beach is only tiny. It had a good feel for it and you can get the ferry to Ithaca.

We stayed in karavados this year. There’s not much in walking distance except for the two tavernas on the beach and a family run one up in the village, but the beach was lovely and the views from the hotel amazing. We hired a car and explored.

Assos is lovely to visit but wouldn’t recommend staying there as no way I could do that drive every time I wanted to go anywhere 🙈.

I really liked loudas/lourdata. Lovely beach and decent choice of tavernas, also not too far from argostoli.

Paros, anytime.

Agree with Paros. Beautiful.

Riapia · 06/09/2023 20:08

Santorini definitely the most spectacular.
Skiathos is beautiful

Paros and Anti Paros. Both gorgeous.
Lefkas definitely worth a visit.
Never been to a Greek island I didn’t love.

Throwncrumbs · 06/09/2023 20:11

Santorini every time

countdowntonap · 06/09/2023 20:37

I absolutely DON’T recommend Santorini. Stick with Paros or Naxos recommend above … or Syros/Tinos.

daffodilandtulip · 06/09/2023 21:19

I've only ever been to Corfu out of them all, but it's one of the best holidays I've been on.
