Visiting Brother in America

So my brother has been working between America and England for the past year and a half (ish) and is looking to stay there more permanently from January once his visa is sorted. I don't know how often he'll come back at the moment, but I'm thinking about visiting at some point next year and making a trip of it, so I'm looking for some recommendations.

We (husband and I) would probably go for 10 days - 2 weeks, depending on where we went exactly and obviously cost. Brother will be about an hour away from Savannah and I imagine we would spend a couple of days in this area to spend time with him, then go off somewhere else (either with or without him, depending on his holiday and how busy they are).

I honestly have no idea where I would start, my husband has a close friend near Seattle and I have family about two hours from Seattle. My husband has also done NY, Las Vegas, Miami before when visiting said friend over the years. I've been to Seattle to see my family and lived in California for 6 months but I was about 3 so don't really remember it.

So would you stay on the east coast or just around there or travel further away somewhere else? Where are your favourite places to go in America? And the best time of year?

I realise this is very vague but it would be a little while off as it would be quite a big trip so I wanted to get some ideas and starting points so then we can think about time of year and also how much to save etc. TIA!!

I’d stick to the east coast. Spend a few days with your brother & then you could head to Savannah, Charleston and along the coast to Wilmington. Or if you want a mix of beach and mountain, you could head to Asheville and the Smoky Mountains for a few days. I’ve heard Hilton Head island is nice too.
