Beach stop for a few days a couple of hours from Bangkok?

We are travelling to Asia to see family and have a flight out of Bangkok early Jan. We would like to spend a few days chilling somewhere 'typically Thai' beachy if possible but easily accessible back to Bangkok to fly. We'll be making our way from Cambodia prior. I have been looking at Ko Samet..... Any other ideas / comments welcome. We have 2 tween kids in tow. Thanks

Ko Samet is lovely but getting there takes between three and five hours, depending on traffic. Bear in mind that the journey involves an hour-long ferry ride from Ban Phe to Ko Samet. You can also get a speedboat, which is obviously far pricier. It’s probably quicker to get to Ko Lan. It’s just off the coast of Pattaya and the crossing takes about 40 mins.

You can take a flight from Bangkok to Ko Samui so I'd do that

Hua Hin is much closer.

Thanks for the replies. We had looked at Ko Samui flights from Bangkok previously, but we're flying back to KL from Bangkok so need to get back up to Bangkok to fly out and already have an internal flight before arranged so keen to avoid another flight if possible.
Ko Lan looks good but Google is saying it's 4-5 hours from Bangkok - which seemed to be the same as Ko Samet??
Hua Hin looks nice but a little built up? We've visited Thailand before but the children haven't and was envisaging a beach bungalow, low key kind of vibe? (perhaps a tall order very near to Bangkok??!!
