Does anyone have any top tips for Tokyo or Kyoto with a 14 and 16 year old? We're travelling in October and have a pretty good itinerary so I'm just looking for any random experiences/ hotspots anyone may have come across. Thank you 😊

Universal studios in Osaka, shopping at shibuya (tokyo). During my time shibuya 109 was the place to be! Not sure if it's still hip.

I’m also going to suggest Tokyo DisneySea. I know that will be controversial on here, but it is regularly ranked as the best theme park in the world. Theme parks may not be your thing but if you are thinking of spending a day at a theme park with your teens then I’d personally go for DisneySea over Disneyland or USJ.

I’ve always fancied Japan, my kids are teens now and the experiences on here sound fantastic Could I ask @HelpfulHettyHopper what your itinerary roughly looks like and who you booked with please so I can investigate. Thanks

@Jedstre We're actually here on our penultimate day right now! We did 6 nights in Tokyo, 4 nights in Kyoto and are on our 4th night of 4 on Okinawa right now. Fly back to Tokyo for a last night tomorrow and then home on Sunday. It has been brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. We have used Inside Japan who have been great. Happy to answer any questions here or on PM!

Lovely to hear you’ve had a wonderful time OP. When you’re back home it would be great to hear what your trip highlights were. We’re going to Tokyo and Osaka next spring and would love to hear what you especially enjoyed.

Thanks very much @HelpfulHettyHopper I will take a look at Inside Japan

Ninja restaurant. It is amazing. The food is delicious and you are eating in individual ninja era houses in a village within a Tokyo building with table magic

Also I think ueno zoo is worth a trip for the giant salamanders but I do love a zoo so might not be for everyone.

Also parasite museum is small but worth checking out for weirdness alone.

Hi OP,

Was wondering if there was anything you’d especially recommend? Hope you had a good journey home.

We went with teen DC - Tokyo
We hired a car and drove to Mt Fuji - cable car / boat ride but my DC were more 'impressed' by the 'suicide forest' Confused
