my first two trips to Lanzarote were to Costa Teguise- about twenty years ago.L now though.

in more recent years I’ve come to prefer Playa Blanca - it’s just a little bit quieter- no loud bars or clubs.

We went to Costa Teguise in March and loved , however we did go AI at Los Zocos Impressive but it was a really good base for travelling around Lanzarote

Lovely beach, good water sports centre, nice restaurants and bars. We stayed in a really nice adults only resort there and had a lovely week.

I haven't been to the Costa Teguise, but it's in a better location if you want to go sightseeing than Playa Blanca, which is right down on the south coast. CT is in the middle of the island and a lot of really nice stuff to visit is either nearby, or closer to CT than Playa Blanca. Besides, PB isn't that nice. There are lots of 5* hotels down there, but the town is grotty IMO. Have a look on Google Streetview OP - that's how I see what a place looks like on the ground.

I've been to PB a few times and Puerto Del Carmen. I fancy trying CT next February. I agree about location if you want to sightsee but if it's just a sun and beach week it doesn't matter.

We aren't after all you can eat Chinese buffets or karaoke I don’t think Costa Teguise is for you. Check Google Maps, or do a Google Street biew to see what’s there. We didn’t like it.

I didn't like it as restaurants were aimed at brits, greasy breakfasts etc, I prefer authentic restaurants.
However not loud clubs or massive amount of bars, nice walk along the promenade. I haven't been to other parts of lanzorote so can't compare

Playa del Carmen is lovely - on the beach, lots of nice restaurants, a few places with live music but not nightclubs or places that go on loud into the nights. Playa Blanca restaurants are awful, had a horrible week there last year. Haven't stayed in CT but have visited and didn't get the best vibe. Been to PdC 4 or 5 times and my parents have been about 15. It's great.

I think a lot depends on what you are looking at cheap self catering or 5* hotel.
We stayed in a 5* hotel in Playa Blanca so didn't try any restaurants. In PDC itself there are very few hotels but lots of apartments. We stayed recently in Bungalow Velasquez which is hard to beat if you like a view and peace.

I've been going to Lanzarote for donkey's years, it's my happy place. Started off in Puerto del Carmen when it was a one horse town, moved on to Playa Blanca when PdC started to get busy. Costa Teguise is OK but not somewhere I'd like to be based. If you want a very small but upmarket resort you could try Puerto Calero which is quite close to PdC but a world away. I'll be off to PB again at Xmas but we always stay in a villa away from the town so can't advise on hotels.

I’ve been to CT. We stayed AI in a 4 star hotel, I don’t remember the name. The hotel was lovely. We walked into the town during the day and from memory it was nice. It was about 15 years ago though.
I’ve also been to Playa Blanca and Matagorda. Both over 10 years ago and always in hotels so we didn’t eat out much.
I prefer Matagorda and Plata Blanca to CT. It did get windy in CT. The hotel was built to shield guests from the wind. I do recall one evening stepping out of the hotel and onto the Main Street and it was incredibly windy. We didn’t stay out long, went back to the hotel where it was shielded.

We stayed in Costa Teguise 18 years ago. There was a local guide book in the apartment that covered all the Canary Islands. The description of Costa Teguise was "Costa Teguise is utterly devoid of any character".

I'm afraid I agreed with that. It isn't horrible, but it has no harbour or centre. It is a purpose built resort with loads of mediocre eating places and English bars selling English beer and showing English football.

We ahd stayed in Puerto del Carmen previously and much preferred that. Although it has changed a lot and become much busier since we visited.

As an island Lanzarote has load to see and do, but I wouldn't go back to Costa Teguise again.

I agree with those saying Playa Blanca town is grotty- the area around the Rubicon Marina is lovely though. CT was not my cup of tea but it depends what you are after. Calero is a beautiful resort- especially where the marina is.
