Canada- Quebec, and where else?

We're thinking of doing a cruise next September from New York, ending in Quebec. We'd like to add on 4 or 5 days at the end in Canada, and are torn between staying in Quebec, or going to Montreal or Toronto. Or possibly splitting our time between a couple of places. Has anyone any advice on which cities are the most interesting to see, or any other places in the area would be worth seeing?

Niagara Falls (Canadian side) is a must imo, absolutely spellbinding! The actual town isn't great though so some avoid for that reason. We treated ourselves to a falls view room at the Sheraton, well worth it and fabulous restaurant on the top floor.

There is a lovely little town a bus ride away, Niagara on the Lake.

We also went to Toronto and Montreal, Toronto I could take or leave but found Montreal gorgeous. Great if you like architecture, churches, history and so on and trying your French.

We took the train from Montreal to Toronto then a mega bus to N Falls, all very easy and efficient.

I have been to Quebec City and Montreal, a very long time ago! I remember Quebec City was very pretty. A lot of people do like Toronto and Niagara Falls would be amazing to see, but 4-5 days isn't a very long time in Canada so it depends how much of that you want to spend travelling.

I agree 4 or 5 days isn’t very long too. Quebec City is pretty and a bit of anachronism in Northern America in that it feels and in parts looks like a European City. Montreal is closer than Toronto. I’ve lived in Toronto and it does have a lot going for it (but perhaps when you know where to go) and if you had longer then I’d recommend heading there. Realistically with your timeframe though, you’ll want 2 days in Quebec City, with the time spent travelling down, exploring Toronto properly and fitting in a trip down to Niagara Falls isn’t really do-able. Montreal is a nice city, closer and coverable in 2 days. Definitely steer clear of Ottawa which is another option but definitely the dullest.
