Best carry on backpack recommendations

I’ve become a bit obsessed with taking carryon luggage only on holiday. We found packing a huge suitcase for a sun holiday unnecessary as we wear swimmers, sundress/shorts and flip flops. We always do villa/apartment rather than hotel so easy to pop a quick wash on and dry everything over night.

So far we’ve used small cases on wheels but would like to invest in some decent purpose designed carry on rucksacks as they are easier to transport and keep you hands free.

Does any one have any recommendations for a long life rucksack that would fit most carry one allowances (Jet2, EasyJet)? Thanks

Thank you, this is really helpful. Liking the look of the Patergonia Black hole which they also do in a 32L!

I usually fly with EasyJet and this is exactly the right size for their carry-on, under seat bag. Also was ok for Air France recently - maybe one cm out on one dimension, but no one looked twice at it.
