Palma de Majorca in September

I've booked flights to Palma towards the end of September but am yet to book a hotel - can anyone hit me with some recommendations? It's just two of us so we'd rather stay in Palma itself but I'm not sure whether to go for a hotel in the old town or somewhere near the beach or marina. I don't know what the weather will be like then, so the old town may be better in case it's grey or wet.

I did like the look of the Melia Palma Bay which is near a little beach but it's one of those hotels that has doorless bathrooms and I didn't fancy that!! The Marina Melia has only got middling reviews on trip advisor and the most recent mention that it's noisy as it's basically surrounded by roadworks.

Melia Palma Bay is a fair walk from the centre though it is near a good beach bar - can’t remember the name - that does lovely sushi platters. Nothing else nearby though and its own bar is soulless (cheap wine tho) and the rooftop is cramped.

Posada terra Santa in the old town is a lovely boutique hotel in a converted dwelling but I saw they’d introduced a 5 night minimum, although maybe it won’t apply on the dates you are going.

If you want to be central (for shops, marina, Santa Catalina etc) you could look at the Saratoga. Great little rooftop, bigger pools at ground level, very clean, good breakfast.

If you are not fussed about a pool but like a nice rooftop area The Almudaina will work, very nice well priced rooms, good service….but food very average.

We stay here every time. Lovely rooftop pool and bar- 5 minutes walk to el Corte ingles through atmospheric streets.

I would also recommend this in a beautiful fishing village are of Palma - but it is ££££ - we always go here for a meal - gorgeous place

I've been to Palma this year and stayed at Elba Sunset. Stunning hotel and short taxi ride from airport. Short walk to harbour with great restaurants

We have stayed at melia too and it's bizzarely soulless and rooms were dull

Protur Naisa and Saratoga look great but the former appears to be sold out and the latter is beyond our budget.

I noticed Melia also have a couple of smaller hotels - the Bellver and the Innside Centre, which is more central. Anyone have any experience of these?

Hotel Born looks nice too, if a bit old-fashioned.

I went to Palma in June and there were road works all along the marina. Stayed at the Mirador which is next to the Bellver. Mirador was basic - fine for the short trip with friends for me but I wouldn’t go back. The pool at the Bellver is at the front of the hotel and only a bit above street level so really right next to the road works. Potential for noise and dust there.

CheeseMuffin · 27/08/2023 11:36

Oh that doesnt sound ideal @KatzP. Another one to remove from the list then!

We went in April and stayed at the Es Princep. It was absolutely amazing! It’s right in the old town so beautiful area, amazing rooftop bar and pool area, the staff are incredible will do anything for you. I’m not one to return to the same place but we’ve both said we’d go back there! Also if you book direct with hotel we got free breakfast and a room upgrade thrown in.

End of Sept it could be a bit rainy, so better in the old town. I’ve only ever stayed with friends, so can’t recommend hotels, but it’s a fab city for a break. If you’ve got time, a day trip by train to Soller is worth it.

We stayed in Hotel Saratoga. Rooftop pool, good breakfast, very central location - loved it!

The nixe palace and be live native t at Cala major are a good bet too- 12 minutes in to Palma on a very regular air con bus or a. 10 euro cab and straight onto a very nice beach

Should say 'be live Marivent !!

Another vote for posada terra Santa here. Have stayed there several times and it’s lovely. Great food and great location.
