Hi
I am mid 20s, never really travelled as a child as I come from with a working class background and just didn't have the money.

I am finally in a job that allows me to travel a bit more.

Next year I would like to do New York, 2 European breaks.
I was thinking of going to New York in April, but lots of people have said don't
In the summer, I really want a hot hot holiday where I can just soak up the sun.

I was thinking potentially Venice in April and maybe New York in may, although lots of people have said August. And I'd like to do Barcelona in June/July time.

Does this sound like the time to visit these places or suggest other places or better times to visit these places. Also I'm solo travelling. What's the best way to get the best deals?

New York in May sounds good. We were there early July and it was a little hot. I’ve done Venice and Barcelona in the autumn which is a wonderful time for either.

As a solo traveller I would avoid July and August because of cost and busyness. I’d go May, June, Sep & Oct.

Hey thanks for your advice are you time suggestions for New York?

As a solo traveller I'd avoid anywhere in July/Aug because it'll cost way more due to schools being off.

May is a good time for NY. Maybe leave Barcelona until Sept, when it should be a bit cooler and cheaper (it shouldn't be cool as such but not so baking hot that you can't go sightseeing.

Agreed!
Also how flexible is your job?
Off-peak you can book last min tix and hotels, save a lot. That's what we used to do as students.

Venice in April, New York in May and Barcelona in September would be perfect. Agree with other posters to avoid school holidays as it will be cheaper and quieter.

I did a lot of solo travel when I was younger and often stayed in backpackers and youth hostels. Was cheap and cheerful but sometimes you can get a private room which is a bit more.

For a first trip to New York I’d allow at least a week. Venice and Barcelona both deserve more than a weekend too if you can spare it but they are closer so hopefully you could return if you like them.

I am a civil servant working on a high-profile area, so not really.

I do like baking, hot weather. I did mainland Athens last year in summer and I like to be in the baking hot sun.
