Lavender fields in Provence

Hello, we're (2 adults, no children) thinking of going to Provence on holiday next year when the lavender is in bloom and would appreciate thoughts on when best to go for this. We don't like extreme heat and have never been to this area so any input gratefully received.

We went to Valensole in mid-July and it was in full bloom, as were the sunflowers. I think some areas bloom earlier so worth googling if you’re worried about the heat.
