Jet 2 flights

We're flying with jet2 to Malta, I've tried to look in their FAQs, do all jet2 flights have tvs on the seat in front with films/games for kids?

Is it worth me buying lots of cheap headphones from amazon i can plug into the seats? I've not been on a plane in 8 years

Nope, take tablets with preloaded stuff for them to watch.

elaeocarpus · 23/08/2023 20:54

Just flew jet2, no tv/screens, no usb/charging points. BYO entertainment

cherryassam · 23/08/2023 21:01

I’ve flown Jet2 lots of time and don’t think I’ve ever had one with TVs / screens

I haven’t had a screen short haul in a long time now I think of it

Catsonskis · 23/08/2023 21:04

You barely get leg room let alone in flight entertainment!

no food included either so load up on snacks or pay extortionate prices for tiny drinks and food on board!

but it’s only a few hours then enjoy a wonderful holiday in Malta!

thaisweetchill · 23/08/2023 21:04

They don't have tvs

YouveGotAFastCar · 23/08/2023 21:04

No, Jet2 don't tend to have onboard entertainment

RosemaryDill · 23/08/2023 21:08

No tvs, no music. Not sure you can plug anything in.
Depending on age of children bring something to do.
Small toys if very little. Puzzles and books for older.
Buy food at airport or pack a picnic.

Bananaspliff · 23/08/2023 21:17

There is zero entertainment on board Jet2 flights, so there are no headphone jacks on the seats. Buy your kids a kindle each and download games and stuff to watch.

CatsOnTheChair · 23/08/2023 21:22

As the others are saying, no screen, no charging points, very small selection of food that you will need to pay for.

Ah fuck, thank you everyone. I stupidly thought technology on planes was getting better in the last 10 years. I'd already planned on take books, colouring books and a dame or two but will look into buying kindles. Thank you

Nope, but the flight isn’t that long. With my two we get them a magazine each and a new toy that they can’t have until on the plane. That plus a snack box usually keeps them entertained.

We went to Malta this year with Jet2. It is a great place for a holiday. Where are you staying?

BarbaraofSeville · 24/08/2023 06:52

I didn't think any budget airlines had inbuilt screens, I thought that was only something you got on long haul. Cost and added weight contrary to the business model.

tanstaafl · 24/08/2023 08:19

Just to add, if you book their meals on board you get served them with tea/coffee/drink before the other passengers.

If you have middle of the plane seats and haven’t booked a meal, you’ll be the last to be served food or drinks as they start from the front and back of the plane!

DurhamDurham · 24/08/2023 08:29

What you lose in inflight entertainment you gain in the generous luggage allowance.

We always buy a Boots meal deal to take on board. Copious amounts of sweets too Grin

For long haul yes but definitely not for short haul budget airlines.

you do get a little activity pack with the kids meals though, and the kids meal has lots of little treats to open, which my son loved, so I’d recommend booking that

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/08/2023 08:33

Even BA flights to Tenerife didn’t have TVs- it’s usually to do with the length of the flight- within Europe nope.
Kids fire tablets - download enough before you go.

TerfTalking · 24/08/2023 08:35

I’ve flown a lot. Never had a TV screen for anything less than 6.5 hours. Certainly not on a low cost airline, jet2 is the best of the low cost airlines but honestly by the time you got in the air and handed out the headsets, you’d be lucky to watch a half hour comedy before they had to start collecting them again. You’ve just enough time for a drinks, duty free and rubbish collection on most flights.

It’s gone the other way. 30 years ago they used to provide audio and visual entertainment even on some short haul flights. Everybody had to watch the same thing on communal TVs that dropped down from the overhead lockers, or projected on to a screen at the front of the cabin.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 25/08/2023 11:11

I think you are right there Oakbeam . I've never flown long haul, but normally do a couple of short haul flights a year, and the only time I've seen entertainment was as you say, on a couple of communal screens, and that was years and years ago .
