Searching for the holy grail! If you went away this year somewhere that had some/ all of the following I'd be really grateful if you would share:

  • no more than 4 hour flight from London with transfer of no more than 90 mins
  • resort/ hotel that isn't huge (easy to pop back from the pool to grab things if you forget them, not a 10 min walk as per this year!)
  • self catering or all inclusive/ half board
  • accommodation with separate sleeping area for dc so either two rooms or self catering with separate bedrooms
  • pools and water slides
Choice of bars, restaurants
  • evening entertainment
  • direct or close beach access
  • kids club/ activities(under 12)
  • activities for teenagers during the day
  • town or other facilities within walking distance to explore

I realise I'm probably asking the impossible but it's a combination of everything we've loved in recent years and I'd love to find somewhere that ticks most or all of these boxes. We like Spain and Italy but happy to explore elsewhere! We're happy with anything from hotels to Eurocamp- open to suggestions.
Budget is around £4-5000 for 7-10 days in school holidays for 4 people but could flex on this.

Have a look at Tui

MissAmbrosia · 24/08/2023 10:43

Siblu La Carabasse ticks all of those boxes (Languedoc) and I guess a few of the nearbyish Eurocamp sites will too. Everything is in walking distance - the town, the beach, a massive fun fair, mini-golf etc. We went there on the train last time.

Check out TUI blue tropical in turkey.

doggybootcamp · 24/08/2023 12:05

Thank you! Will check these out

Look at first choice Waterparks. that will narrow down the slides/pools requirement. The you can see how close they are to beaches etc…

LlynTegid · 25/08/2023 11:23

Check hotels in Antibes or Juan les Pins in France. You may have to book hotel and travel separately.

Turkey - look at Dalyan/Fethiye/Gocek

Itsallovernow23 · 27/08/2023 20:28

Antalya, Turkey

That's where I want to go. Any recommendations please?

underthedoona · 28/08/2023 08:17

Neilson resorts have most of those things. No water slides and not really a choice of restaurants but close to local towns/villages to try out three local food on non-inclusive nights

Iamblossom · 28/08/2023 09:14

Tenerife

Shoemadlady · 28/08/2023 09:53

Honestly, I think the reason you can't find it is because there is a bit of a conflict on your list. You want small size but multiple restaurants / pools. If you want small there may be only 1 pool / restaurant.

Sidari Water Park Hotel on Corfu

https://www.tui.co.uk/destinations/europe/greece/corfu/sidari/hotels/sidari-water-park-hotel.html

only has a couple of slides so not as huge as it sounds!

Havanananana · 28/08/2023 10:28

Does the "beach" need to be by the sea?

There are plenty of places inland that have lakeside beaches and lidos (and watersports like sailing, windsurfing, paddle boards etc) and that have all of the other activities and facilities that you would like.

Look at the threads on MN for holidays in Austria, Germany or the Italian Alps.

Hotel Arminda in Crete

Neverinamonthofsundays · 28/08/2023 14:53

Grand pasa hotel, Marmaris Turkey.

pico1 · 29/08/2023 14:35

Marbella Corfu ticks most of these boxes but possibly over budget.

MNetcurtains · 21/09/2023 16:05

Forte Village in Sardinia.

blueangel1971 · 21/09/2023 16:29

Voyage Sorgun turkey. Might be over budget but the family bungalows were perfect.

gogomoto · 21/09/2023 16:51

I stayed in Ibiza and had all but the separate room, which may be available (we haven't got younger children, they rarely come with us) sirinus country club I think it was, we were there for an event. Again don't know how good the teen activities were because it was teen time and no teens there. It shared the water park with the hotel next door and there were multiple restaurants I think in high season (it was a special event so we got a different package to the normal ai)

Winter42 · 21/09/2023 17:12

We had all of that this year except being walking distance from a town. We stayed at camping Sandaya moulin de l'eclis in southern Brittany. They have loads of sites though so I'm sure you would find one that suited.

Last year we went to one in Normandy that would technically tick all those boxes but the beach wasn't great.

They have one in Northern Spain that I fancy trying. Not quite walking distance to beach/town but they operate a free shuttle bus in the summer.

TallulahMazda · 21/09/2023 17:16

Wyndham grand residences in Mijas ticks these boxes
