Dubrovnik - October

Our half term is mid-Oct and flights from our local airport are quite reasonable so thinking of heading to Dubrovnik.

Anyone been that time of year? Any tips?

Following this as pondering the same! I am a bit worried the weather really declines.

Don’t know about Oct we went in June and it was fabulous!!

If you want to stay very central to old town I’d suggest AirBnb for an apartment, as most hotels are outside and you’d need a bus or taxi to get in. If walking the city walls do in the morning - quieter and less hot. Take a water bottle as there are fountains for free spring water everywhere.

Finally, check online what days have cruise ships arriving. One day we were there, there were 4 ships due in, so we got a boat to Cavtat for the day - which turned into a wonderful day sitting by the sea drinking wine!

We have been the last two October half terms. The guide from the GOT tour reckoned it was the best time to visit. Not too hot and not too busy although I still found it quite warm walking round the walls.

It was about 23/24 degrees every day. Cooler at night. We sunbathed and did lots of sight seeing. We swam in the sea but this did take my breath away! My teenagers loved jumping in from the rocks.

We stayed outside Dubrovnik in Lapad in the Royal Hotel which I chose as it has a heated outdoor pool and two spas with heated indoor pools. It's too cold to swim in the outdoor non heated pools so this was perfect (also heated outdoor rooftop adults only pool with a view). The hotel was good value and the view is amazing.

The bus into town leaves outside the hotel every few minutes and was cheap.

I'm really sad we aren't going this year as it was the perfect holiday. Saving now for next year!

That's one of the hotels we were eyeing. DH likes sunbathing and swimming n sea/outdoor pools, though so it does sound like Croatia in late October might not work,annoyingly. Never watched GOT so that is not a pull!
