Coastal city break with teens

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns · 19/08/2023 17:27

They will be 14, 16 and 17 next summer. DD16 and DSD17 won't swim in pools due to chlorine wrecking their hair 🙄. They will go in the sea. We want a balance between sightseeing and sitting on the beach. Any recommendations?

Thanks for suggestions. Have any of you done any of these with teens? What did you see if so?

Won't sea water hurt their hair too?

londonmummy1966 · 19/08/2023 18:53

The Athens coast is nice and if you stayed in Voula you could get the tram to Syntagma Sq which is very central and go in couple of days and do the Acropolis and museum one day and the Ancient Agora and some shopping another and go the opposite way to Sounion on the bus and then hop off for a different beach on the way back.

If you wanted UK then I'd recommend either Pembrokeshire or Northumberland as there are lots of companies that do watersports (paddleboard/kayak/coasteering etc) and lots of sites to see as well.

Barcelona?
Beach, sightseeing, shopping & great food

They say not. I'm not bothering arguing with their logic!

I second Dubrovnik

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns · 19/08/2023 19:50

Barcelona, Athens and Dubrovnik are all ones we are considering.

Barcelona, Venice (stay on coast just outside), Faro

cherryassam · 20/08/2023 17:29

I’d have a price up of accomodation - Barcelona can be very expensive for accomodation but it’s probably not got quite as much of a high season in August as Dubrovnik or Athens.

For all three you could think about staying somewhere along the coast a little with decent transport links.
