Is spring bank week always expensive?

I usually only travel abroad to warm destinations in August but next year I want to take my daughter on a 5-7 night holiday somewhere hot during spring bank week. So from 25/5 onwards. I cannot find any reasonably priced flights at all. All coming up over £700. Even looked at using my Avios but that week there are no flights that would fit. Tried Portugal, Canaries, Cyprus and some parts of Spain.

Just curious if this week is usually expensive or am I best waiting for prices to come down? I have seen cheaper flights for august and also some Avios availability but would prefer to go in May as we are having a family holiday in the UK in august next year.

thanks

Forgot to add that I will look for accommodation separately, like an Airbnb. Not looking for anything fancy hence looking at flights only. Just want something close to a beach

You can always tell when school holidays are by looking at flight costs over a period (it’s how we know which weeks to avoid!!). You might be better off with a package, some companies will do free child places etc.

That week is May half term in all schools across the country whether state or private so, yes. it will be expensive. Not as expensive as the main summer holiday weeks but there is a lot of demand from families who can't afford the main summer holiday weeks or those who find the main summer holiday weeks too hot as well as the fortunate so-and-so's who go away in May half term as well as the summer.

Thanks, my daughter will be 17 so not sure she would get a free child place? Will look though 😀

Aha! Sorry my assumption! I’d def look into packages then as you will only need one room in a hotel

@VanCleefArpels thank you. that’s definitely out of my price range. I don’t really need AI. Happy just for a small studio or apartment. Will keep looking and might change dates to first week of summer hols if need be.

I think you are going to struggle to get under £1k for 2 adults somewhere hot that week. Might a city break somewhere like Copenhagen appeal? Pleasant spring weather and interesting things to do. Is she doing public exams next summer? If so, you may be able to get away before most schools break up which will make things cheaper

@VanCleefArpels She’ll be in her first year of 6th form so will have AS exams in May I believe. Need to look into all but at my workplace I need to book my leave for next year in the next month hence looking into holidays early
