October sunshine, not too long a flight?

Is Menorca reliably warm and sunny in October?

Can’t face a long flight (4hrs +) so I think that rules out Canaries as I’m flying from
Aberdeen.

Any other suggestions, please?

I think the balerics are really hit and miss in October.

Is Turkey an option?

Not something you can rely on, sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. We were in Ibiza last year at the end of October and it was reported to be heatwave for the time of year but it was only early 20s most days and I needed a cardigan at night. Also most things were closed or closing and it was all shut by 30th. Canaries are only an hour more but much more assured.

Agree with Menorca being hit or miss that time of year, I went one year towards the end of September & the nights were really cold, had a few sunny days mixed with heavy showers, unfortunately think you have to fly 4hrs plus for reasonably reliable warm weather.

What about Malaga?

Weather should be better and if it's not laying around in the sun weather you have the city to see, but there's still the beach if the weather is kind and you want that.

You could stay in the city or go somewhere like Fuengirola or Nerja, and possibly spend a day in Malaga (or visit places like Mijas or Granada).

Menorca is also winding down in/by October. We were there in mid September last year and a few restaurants had either closed or were on their last week. You might find very little open in October unless you stayed in Mao.

Realistically, if you want a sunny holiday in October, you're looking at going further afield that the normal Med resorts.

Even the Canary Islands can be a bit hit and miss in October, sometimes with with cloud and rain. (We once went to Gran Canaria in October and it rained every other day for the entire 2 weeks!).

For a more guaranteed sunny holiday, I'd suggest looking at Turkey, Greece or, even better (if slightly longer flight) Cyprus. I've been to Cyprus loads of times in October and never been let down by the weather and most things are still open. Greece and Greek Islands are also usually good weather, but tend to be winding down in October, so quite a lot starts to close such as shops, restaurants, etc for Winter.

Turkey is perfect then. Tui have some great holidays in dalaman and alanya area.

Thanks all. Will have small children in tow so not worried about nightlife etc, just want some warmth! And good food.

We had daytime temps up to 28 in Cyprus in late Oct/early Nov (but not guaranteed).

We went to Athens at the end of October in 2019. It was gorgeous. Not too hot but warm enough. I loved the city, it's got everything the holidaymaker could want. History, food, wine, the sea.

Seville? Sicily?
