La Rochelle SNCF Station - Taxis

Very specific question! We are travelling to La Rochelle on the train, and from there it is c30m drive to our destination. Are we likely to be able to get a taxi at the station without booking? Or should we book in advance? (And if so does anyone have any recommendations for taxi companies?)

Understand this is a very specific question but thought I'd put it here on the off-chance someone knows.

I don't but the SNCF website used to have station facilities which might help.

If you're going to Ile de Re or thereabouts these people are very good

I would book in advance, 30m from la Rochelle is likely to cost €€.

Are you going to the Il de Ré ? If so you would be better getting a bus to the island otherwise you have to add on the bridge toll to the taxi fare.

Thanks everyone. I think we are going to be very tired by the time we get to the station, so we are assuming cab is better than bus with two youngish children. Thanks for the links, will take a look.

You will definitely have to book ime.

I know you might be shattered, but tbh, the bus to Ile de Re is a lovely ride, and great introduction to the area, and cheap as chips.

It's a beautiful area, enjoy😁

Does the bus stop at individual campsites or just in the centre of the villages?

It stops at campsites 😁

We went to Le Bois Plage a few times when the kids were little, it was so great and Ile de Re is blissful. I've got my eye on the posh hotel in Bois Plage, just need to persuade DP (who feels we've 'done' SW France a bit too much)

Thanks. We're really looking forward to it :-)
