I've just been reading the thread about everyone going to Greece this year, which is funny, because that's where we're going!

We're S/C near Georgopoulos. Flying into Chania, picking up a hire car.

Looking for recommendations, insider knowledge and top tips if anyone has any!

Thanks.

Just a bump in case anyone wants to tell me all about Crete!

We went that side of Crete in 2019. Stayed near Rethymnon which is definitely worth a visit. Lovely old town and plenty of gorgeous restaurants. We went on an organised trip to the Samara Gorge which was fab. You can't do it on your own really unless you want to walk all the way up again (not recommended!!) DH and DS1 went on a trip to Knossos. Other than that we went to various beaches. The ones on the south side were lovely and a bit different.

@AlwaysFreezing TripAdvisor forums will be a good place to get tips. Instagram is also good for inspiration, or Tik Tok if you have an account.

Lake Kournas is a good spot for some sunbathing, swimming or kayaking. There are restaurants and cafes with a nice view over the lake and a small sandy beach where it’s possible to hire sunbeds with umbrellas, pedal boats or kayaks.
