Weekend in Vegas

DH and I are flying from London to Vegas for 3 nights to see Adele.
We arrive Friday, see Adele Saturday night, have Sunday 'free' and leave to fly back Monday.
We will be back in the UK on Tuesday and back at work on Wednesday.
What shouldn't we miss? We aren't really interested in gambling.
How jet lagged will we be since we aren't even going to attempt to get into the time zone and hopefully will just get some sleep on the plane?

Jet lag - I find the jet lag worse coming east than going west, so if I were doing your trip I’d probably be not too dreadful whilst out there but pretty grim once back in the UK. Are you going to stay on UK time zone or shift over, I’m not sure if I understood that part

I find Vegas is best if you lean in to the fact it’s Vegas, if that makes any sense? But do be mindful that a lot of places free pour and that means drinks can be very very strong. When we went last, they were putting about 2oz of liquor in a standard mixed drink which is 60ml of alcohol and more than a double.

Also, make sure you’ve reserved somewhere for dinner in advance. Trying to get a table can be difficult, especially if you want to go somewhere particular or popular.

In terms of things to do:

  • Fountains of Bellagio - it’s so iconic and really very impressive
  • the Volcano at The Mirage - same designers as the Fountains of Bellagio but fire
  • The Conservatory at the Bellagio - gorgeously decorated oh and go and stare at the ceiling in the lobby!
  • Springs Preserve is lovely for some nature and a break from the craziness
  • High Roller Observation Wheel for the views
  • If you want to go to another show, there’s usually several Cirque du Soleil and they’re usually very impressive
  • Fremont Street
  • if you want to get out of Vegas, Red Rock Canyon is an easy day trip that you can do as a guided tour or hire a car and DIY

Thanks for the recommendations. We are thinking about a trip to the Grand Canyon too- maybe plane or helicopter?
I think we are going to try to stay on UK time, sleep as much on the plane as possible ( not flying economy) and hope for the best.

The good thing about Vegas is it’s a properly 24 hour place, so you can do things at odd times and find things to do and places to eat.

Yes the Grand Canyon is amazing! haven’t done a trip from Vegas but I know they’re popular.

Buy some Boots over the counter sleepease and use it night time whilst you're there and when you get back for a couple of nights. Helped me adjust more or less straight away after first night for both USA and NZ.

I did a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon when I was in Vegas for a conference. I went early morning as I was jet lagged and therefore was up early anyway, so I was picked up at 6am and dropped back at my hotel right before our 9am conference kickoff. Cost about £350 per person (but was a once in a lifetime experience for me).

It was absolutely gorgeous in the morning sun. I literally gasped out loud when we turned a corner and the ground just fell away.

The Hoover dam is another experience on my list if I get to go again; I didn't get a great view from the helicopter but I've heard it's breathtaking in person. That's a shorter trip from Vegas so you can do coach tours there too.

I'd not bother with a Grand Canyon tour for such a short trip. But if you do, fly as pp suggested.

I'd go to Vanderpump for some daft cocktails before Adele.

Sunday I'd have brunch up the Eiffel Tower or at one of the Bellagios fountain facing restaurants. And then just wander through the big hotels, Bellagio conservatory, st marks square at Venetian, the art at aria and Cosmo, lake of dreams at Wynn etc

Go somewhere with a high view, the strat or high roller or foundation room at Mandalay bay or even just the roof terrace at brew dog.

Some good suggestions there. Thanks!
Will report back once we've returned.

You must have your picture taken at the Vegas sign. It's about a 20 min walk past Mandalay Bay.
